So at today's Financial Peace University class the topic was insurance. We learned about health insurance, proper car insurance, LIFE insurance, etc. After the lesson, one woman in our class raised her voice to share her story. 

When her oldest daughter was 9 months her first husband was diagnosed with Lymphoma. He passed away when the little girl was 2. He had LIFE insurance. That allowed the mom to pay off all the medical bills and her home. What a relief that must have been and one less thing to worry about while she was coping with her grief. 

She remarried and they had another little girl. When this little girl was 9 months, her 2nd husband was diagnosed with Colon Cancer. He passed away when this little girl was 2. He did NOT have Life Insurance and left behind a grieving family and a mountain of medical bills that she is now paying off as a single mom.

This woman was crying and said she felt really unloved by her late husband because although they did talk about Life Insurance before he got sick, but he just wouldn't buy it. He never thought he would need it. I thought that was a really heart breaking story.
